The political class in Nigeria has been urged to end the insurgency, the incessant attacks and killings of innocent citizens across the country.

The call was made by Plateau State Chairman of Traditional Councils, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, while speaking when the National Chairman of APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace on Wednesday, in Jos.

The Gbong Gwom expressed worry of the speed of attacks and killings of famers in Nigeria, and appealed to the political class to sheath their swords and promote peaceful coexistence.

According to him, “The country cannot continue to witness dastardly act of destruction and poverty when the citizens continue to live in abject poverty and underdevelopment.”

He appreciated the APC for making Prof. Nentawe the National Chairman to pilot the affairs of the party to victory, saying, “We sincerely appreciate all of you. We assure you that, at our level of Traditional Council we give him overwhelming support for him to succeed.”

The Gbong Gwom further expressed their concern over the stability of the country because this is what every political party promised people, while the traditional council at this moment depends on God for the destiny of Nigeria.

He stated that, “Nigerians are passing through a lot. So, please, help Nigeria to go out of the challenges.”

He urged the President of Nigeria to put more efforts, as the security challenges are getting worse, “because various communities are burying their young, and it’s not palpable from northeast, northwest, north-central, down to south.

“We appeal to the progressive governors to work with Mr President to stabilize, so that Nigerians can go back to their homes to farm,” the Gbong Gwom said.

He congratulated Prof Nentawe Yilwatda on his appointment as the National Chairman of the APC, saying, “Government should do something urgently to address the problem of religious leaders preaching hate speech.”

Another speaker during the visit, Chairman of All Progressives Governors Forum in Nigeria and Imo State Governor, Hon. Hope Uzodinma, assured Nigerians that “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is working hard to reposition the country by saying the government need total support.”

He noted that, President Tinubu had asked him to accompany what he termed as “the brand new National Chairman” to his home State, Plateau; and they were at the Palace to seek Royal blessings and protection.

The governor urged the people of Plateau State to support the present Chairman, and acknowledge that, “The adjustment of president comes with little pain but all these challenges would be a thing of the past.”

The APC’s new National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was at Bible Transition venue of church prayers seeking God’s blessings and royal blessings from the Traditional Council and religious leaders in Plateau State.

He promised to reposition the country’s political landscape with the support spirit of leaders and Nigerians.

The entourage of the APC National Chairman was led by Chairman of the APC Governors, Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, along with other governors of: Benue, Kogi, Sokoto States, and Plateau State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel.

Hope Uzodinma solicited the cooperation of Plateau Traditional Council as well as the religious leaders to pray for him, saying, “Especially at this trying moment that Nigeria’s politics need total reform.”

According to him, “As the son of Plateau State – the State that rescued Nigeria in the 60s – with General Yakubu Gowon and the first National Chairman of the PDP, late Solomon Daushep Lar, we are coming from a responsible background that we can’t fail.”

He noted that his visit to the Palace of the Chairman Traditional Council in Plateau State was to seek their Royal blessings and protection for the task ahead.

Nentawe Yilwatda assured Plateau citizens of Nigeria that he won’t disappoint them, adding that, with their unwavering support and prayers, he would succeed.
