Former Lawmakers of Plateau State have paid visit to Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, in her office on Monday, to acknowledging that, they have a greater role to play in proffering solutions towards addressing challenges of the state and the nation in general, and promoting national unity.
The delegation of the former State Legislators, elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), were recently sacked by the Court of Appeal.
The Deputy Governor told the delegation that, they must harness their experiences and move Plateau State to enviable heights, adding that, “As former members of the legislative arm of government in the state, we have to come together and discuss the progress of the State.
“This is the moment for us to put the interest of the State above any other consideration and champion the consolidation of peace and progress in our dear state.
“It is very unfortunate that you were sacked from office just at the time you had started giving your best for the state and moving it to greater heights,” she stated.
While calling for synergy between the ‘formers’ and serving legislators to champion the cause of peace and unity in the state, Josephine Piyo noted that, the Caleb Mutfwang-led administration “will continue to drive development, in the interest of the people, and will work in harmony with other arms of government towards delivering on the dividends of democracy to the electorate.”
Speaking earlier, leader of the delegation, Rt. HonMoses Sule, the immediate past Speaker of the Assembly, congratulated the governor and his deputy on their victory at the Supreme Court, describing it as an “act of God.”
He also commended the administration for its laudable achievements so far and for its doggedness in delivering qualitative service for the people, and promised good collaboration with the government to ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt by the people.
