…Civil Defence Corps follows suit with beefed-up security.

JOS: The Plateau State Police Command has urged parents/guardians, traditional and religious leaders to warn their wards, followers and congregants to avoid any acts that may cause a breach of the peace in the State during the celebration of Eid-el-Fitir.
A statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo, and issued to newsmen in Jos on Friday, in which it indicated that, “As Muslim faithful and their well-wishers celebrate Eid-el-Fitir in a few days to come, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has revitalized the security architecture throughout the State by deploying additional personnel to flash-points and strategic positions throughout the State.
According to him, “In the light of the foregoing, he warned all mischief makers and criminally-minded individuals, who may want to foment trouble, thereby disrupting the fragile peace currently being enjoyed in the state, to desist from such, as the Command under his watch is fully prepared and ever ready to deal decisively with them, in accordance with the extant laws.”
He assured that, the Plateau Command remains resolute in executing its constitutional mandate of “safeguarding the lives and property of all residents of Plateau State.”
In addition, the Police Commissioner has placed a ban on the activities of commercial tricycle operators, popularly known as “Keke-NAPEP,” on Sunday, the 16th day of June 2024, and Monday the 17th day of June 2024, while a the total ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles, also known as “Okada” within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, remains in force, and wishes all Muslim faithful a happy and blessed Eid-el-Fitir celebration.
He further urges members of the public to cooperate with all law enforcement agents in the State and adhere to all regulations/restrictions and directives, and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest Police Station or call the phone numbers provided by the Command.
In a related development, The Plateau State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under Alexander Bissa Barunde, has directed the immediate deployment of 1,408 personnel to beef-up security in the state and its environs before, during and after the2024 Eld-el-Kabir sallah period.
While briefing officers and men at the State Headquarters, he orders a complete beefing up of security across all the flashpoints and worship grounds across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Alexander Bissa Barunde, while congratulating all Muslim faithful for celebrating the 2024, Eld-el-Kabir, reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of the nation, life and property.
He said the Corps will leave no stone unturned in dealing decisively with all miscreants, criminals and vandals, who are planning to disrupt the relative peace the State is enjoying.
