The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major-General Folusho Oyinlola, has inaugurated the Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course IX 2025 for subalterns and soldiers of the Division, in an effort to “sharpen combat readiness and tactical proficiency” of personnel under the Command.
The ceremony, which took place at the Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, in Bassa near, Jos, on Tuesday, was represented by Brigadier-General Okezim Omeni, Commander 103 Division Equipment Support.
According to him, the course is designed to elevate soldiers’ tactical acumen, initiative, and weapon-handling skills for both day-and-night operations.
He stressed that the training is essential for enabling troops to respond effectively to the nation’s dynamic security threats, in alignment with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
Major-General Oyinlola also highlighted the importance of continuous training in maintaining troop proficiency and professionalism, urging all participants to approach the course with the utmost seriousness, commitment, and discipline so as to maximize its benefits.
The GOC also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General O.O. Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for training and capacity building, which he described as the best form of welfare for personnel of 3 Division and the Nigerian Army at large.
Speaking earlier, Brigadier-General Nicodemus Awobi, Division Training Officer and host of the occasion, outlined the course’s structure.
He noted that the program is meticulously designed to build soldier competence in tackling contemporary security challenges, with new modules on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and advanced marksmanship to enhance the course’s quality.
Brigadier-General Awobi also expressed gratitude for the GOC’s steadfast support of the Division’s training activities.
The inauguration was attended by formation and unit commanders, senior officers, and staff officers from the Division Headquarters and affiliated formations. The event concluded with a group photograph to mark the occasion.
