JOS: Plateau State’s Nigeria Security, together with Civil Defence Corps, has organized a training programme for Agro Rangers Personnel for Plateau State Command.

Our correspondent reports that over 150 personnel of the Plateau State Command are to benefit from the training.

The training was declared open by the Assistant Commandant-General Training and Manpower Development, Lawal Muktar, on behalf of Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, at the NSCDC Command and Staff College, Naton Fobur, Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday.

He noted that, “The training underscores the Corps’ ongoing commitment to enhance its personnel’s capacity, boost operational efficiency, and safeguard the farmers and agro-allied investments.

“In line with the Commandant-General’s vision, the Agro Rangers are a crucial element of the NSCDC strategy – to reduce conflicts in farming communities and protect food production zones nationwide,” he disclosed.

He urged participants to approach the training with seriousness, adding that, “The security challenges in our rural and agricultural communities require knowledge, discipline, and strategic engagement.

“Let this training provide you with not only tactical skills but also a deeper understanding of community relations, intelligence gathering, and conflict resolution,” the Commandant-General charged.

He expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his unwavering support and commitment for the success of the programme, for his ongoing partnership with NSCDC and for prioritizing the security of the agricultural sector. 

The Commandant-General also appreciated the governor’s active role in facilitating and supporting the organization of the training, which underscores his dedication to peace, security, and agricultural development in the state. The Commandant-General equally acknowledged the efforts of the Plateau State Commandant and all facilitators, who have contributed to the programme. 

Speaking earlier, the State Commandant NSCDC Plateau State Command, CC Ishaku Musa, said, “The opening ceremony of the Premier Agro-Regional Training Programme for personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is under what we call, the ‘Class Restrict Committee.’

“It is important to applaud the efforts of the governor for creating an enabling environment for us to operate in the State, and for his immense support in making this premier initiative a success,” CC Ishaku Musa stated.

He also commended the Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who graciously approved the training of 150 agro-rangers each month, adding that “This effort is aimed at ensuring the protection of farmers, herders, and other agricultural stakeholders.

“History will record that the sons and daughters of this land have played an important role in making it possible for us to operate these structures. Among them are His Royal Highness Kwanomorimada King Isa Aju, the former Head of Service, Izam Azi, and several others. We appreciate.”

He assured the entire members of the great community, saying, “We have come in peace, and through peace, we believe we can live together harmoniously.”

Assistant Commandant of Institute, ACG David Abi, urged the trainees to zip-up and focus on the training so as to enable its success, but cautioned that, “Any bad behavior will be dealt with seriousness.”

The community stakeholders, Deputy Speaker Plateau, Ajiji Isaac Madaki, former Head of Civil Service of Plateau State, among others, expressed their happiness about the project sited in the community, and appreciated the governor for accepting to convert the place and the facilities, which was earlier built as hospital.

They also appreciated the NSCDC, their Commandant-General for accepting the re-siting of the Institute in their community, and assured them that the people of Naton are very peaceful and will give their maximum support and cooperation for the success of the Institute.
