About 249 students would be graduating with distinctions at the 4th Combined Convocation of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
This was disclosed by Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, while speaking to journalists at a Press Briefing to mark the commencement of activities of the 4th combined convocation of the institution.
According to him, 145 students will be graduating with distinctions at the ND level, while 104 with distinctions in the HND level.
Dr. Ogbo explained that, all in all they will be graduating 7,653 at the ND, while
4427 will be graduating at the HND level at the 4th combined convocation of the Polytechnic.
He noted some of his achievements in the Polytechnic to include the tackling of insecurity that was synonymous with the Polytechnic before his assumption of office.
He stressed that, under his leadership, the institution has gained prominence in academic matters and quality assurance, with 30 programs of the institution enjoying full accreditation.
Dr. Ogbo disclosed that he has established new directorates, improved the physical infrastructure in the institution as well improvement in environmental maintenance, saying that the institution remains committed to academic excellence.
While pointing out that his administration succeeded in blocking revenue leakages in the institution, he expressed satisfaction with the increase in internally-generated revenue and added that his administration has also recruited new staffs in the institution.
Similarly, said, within the limit of available resources he has implemented the promotion of staffs, from 2015 to 2019, started the initiative of constituting the
Alumni Association of the institution.
Dr. Ogbo stated that, he has erected a Secretariat for the Student Union Government, pointing out that the result-processing of the Polytechnic has been fast-tracked, with the introduction of Academic Board Central Results Verification, and expressed satisfaction that the institution has no result backlog.
The Rector attributed the success of his administration to the support of Gov Yahaya Bello, describing the governor’s love for the Polytechnic as unprecedented, and revealed that the 4th combined convocation is for the 2013 down to 2023 academic session.
