The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has expressed lamentation over what she described as the challenges and unnecessary hardships faced in previous Hajj exercise by the state pilgrims.

Dr. Hadiza Balarabe made the assertion in an address delivered on the occasion of the Inauguration of the State Committee for the 2024 Pilgrimage exercise, held at the Deputy Governor’s Chamber, on Tuesday, 29th November, 2023.

She said, “We are aware of the challenges faced in previous Hajj exercises, which resulted in unnecessary hardships for our pilgrims. It is our collective responsibility to rectify these gaps and create an improved arrangement that prioritizes their welfare.”

Earlier, the Dep. Governor extended her heartfelt gratitude to all members for accepting Governor Uba Sani’s nomination to serve on the 8-man Committee for the forthcoming 2024 pilgrimage operations in Kaduna State.

“Your selection is a testament to your expertise, dedication, and commitment to the progress of Kaduna State and the overall well-being of our people.

“I want to particularly thank Sheikh Salisu Abubakar for accepting to chair the 2024 pilgrimage operation. May Allah (SAW) reward your sacrifice and selfless service to our dear State.

“The State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Uba Sani, understands the importance of providing a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience for our people.

“We are aware of the challenges faced in previous Hajj exercises, which resulted in unnecessary hardships for our pilgrims. It is our collective responsibility to rectify these gaps and create an improved arrangement that prioritizes their welfare.

“The terms of reference for this Committee outline crucial areas that require our utmost attention and diligence. Your role in liaising with relevant authorities and credible service providers to ensure the provision of good accommodation, feeding, transportation, and tents is vital.

“We expect you to ensure that only organizations capable of meeting our standards are engaged. They must ensure that the accommodation in Mecca meets the required bed capacity and proximity to the Kaaba, the quality of feeding is standard, proper implementation of hadya services, and efficient transportation. These are the essential components of a successful pilgrimage.

“The chairman and distinguished members; we anticipate a comprehensive report detailing your findings, recommendations, and any operational challenges encountered when you complete this assignment.

“This will enable us to promptly address the identified issues and challenges with a view to making necessary improvements.

“Finally, I would like to express our confidence in your collective abilities to deliver on your terms of reference on behalf of the State Government. Your dedication and meticulousness will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being and satisfaction of our pilgrims.

“We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of your efforts in the forthcoming operations. May the forthcoming pilgrimage be a memorable and spiritually-fulfilling experience for all our pilgrims,” she stated.
