The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has declared that he is mobilising over one million women across Kaduna State to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.

Mamman Lagos made the declaration on Thursday in Kaduna, while speaking with journalists during a meeting with women groups in the state.

He described women as a “critical and decisive force” in the electoral process, noting that their participation and voting strength could determine the outcome of the 2027 polls.

According to the Commissioner, the Kaduna State Government is committed to empowering women through various initiatives, which he said would further motivate them to participate actively in the elections.

He cited Operation Tsapta as one of the flagship programmes of the administration, saying, more than 8,000 women had secured employment through the initiative.

“Beneficiaries of the programme are earning salaries and have experienced improvements in their livelihoods,” Mamman Lagos said.

He expressed confidence that the various projects and empowerment programmes of the Uba Sani administration would encourage more women to turn out and vote in 2027.

The Commissioner urged residents to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the achievements of the Uba Sani administration across the 23 local government areas of the state would serve as a major selling point for both Governor Sani and President Tinubu.

He maintained that the visible impact of government projects and policies at the grassroots would translate into massive electoral support for the APC, in 2027.

Also speaking, Chairperson of Operation Tsapta in Kaduna State, Hajia Aisha Umar, said women across the state were ready to mobilise massive support for President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.

Umar described Mamman Lagos as a strong advocate of women’s participation in governance, saying, his commitment had opened doors for women to occupy leadership positions and benefit from government empowerment programmes.

She listed Operation Tsapta, government appointments and other empowerment interventions as some of the ways women had benefited from the present administration.

She added that women were eagerly looking forward to the 2027 elections, when they would demonstrate their support by mobilising voters and delivering their polling units for the APC candidates.

Responding to criticisms of President Tinubu’s re-election bid by some Northerners, Umar argued that opposition expressed on social media “does not reflect the voting preferences of people at the grassroots.”

“Elections are ultimately determined by voters at polling units, rather than comments and criticisms on social media,” she said.

The Operation Tsapta chairperson urged women in Kaduna State to remain united and sustain their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
