A technical-cum cultural outfit, known as, ‘Hyelhira Language and Cultural Center’ (HLCC), has launched a six-month Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Skill Acquisition Programme for 30 beneficiaries in Kaduna.
The flag-off ceremony, which held on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, brought together government officials, development partners, community stakeholders, facilitators and selected youths.
The programme is supported by the Federal University of Education and the World Bank under the TVET Initiative.
Speaking at the event, HLCC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Grace Dzamra Saleh, congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to take the training seriously.
She said the programme is designed to provide practical vocational skills, entrepreneurial knowledge and hands-on training to make participants self-reliant and contribute to community development.
“The beneficiaries should consider themselves privileged to be part of this programme. We expect commitment, dedication, and seriousness throughout the training period. The knowledge and skills they acquire here should become tools for transforming their lives and creating opportunities for others,” Dr. Saleh said.
Another speaker at the event, Mr. Denis Victor (representing Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mrs. Gloria Ibrahim), commended the initiative and said the State Government remains committed to youth empowerment and human capital development through capacity-building programmes.
He pledged the Ministry’s continued collaboration with HLCC on youth development and entrepreneurship.
In the same vein, Mr. Kabir Gambo, who represented Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai, also congratulated the participants.
While noting that Kaduna State Government has established Skill Acquisition Centres across the three senatorial zones to strengthen vocational education, entrepreneurship and innovation, he reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to partner with HLCC on future empowerment projects.
The TVET programme will equip beneficiaries with practical vocational competencies, business management knowledge and entrepreneurship skills to improve employability and create pathways for self-employment.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to HLCC, the Federal University of Education and the World Bank for the opportunity and pledged to complete the training successfully.
The event ended with the official launch of training activities and a renewed commitment by stakeholders to support youth empowerment and economic growth in Kaduna State.
