…As 9, 13 others kidnapped in Kauru, Lere LGAs still in captivity.

Miraculously, at least eighty (80) of the Christian worshippers, who were among the 166 abducted during a Church Service at Kurmin Wali in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State, have escaped from bandits’ enclave.

Village Head of Kurmin Wali, Ishaku Dan’azumi, who disclosed this in an interview on Sunday, said those escaped have been reunited with their families.

Dan’azumi explained that although, about 177 worshippers were believed to have been kidnapped earlier during the attack, 80 were later confirmed escaped and sought refuge in nearby communities.

The Village Head, however, stated that 86 worshippers are still being held in captivity by the bandits.

“We have observed that some people are trying to politicize our situation, even as families are going through serious trauma,” he said.

“We are appealing to the government and the military to expedite action to secure the safe return of the remaining 86 people still in the bandits’ camp,” Dan’azumi added.

When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the Police would release a comprehensive report on the incident.

“The Police will come out with a comprehensive report on the Kurmin Wali abduction,” Hassan said.

It’s also recalled that, 9 others kidnapped from Kuyambana – a Christian-dominated community in Kauru LGA of Kaduna in October 2025 – are still in bandits’ captivity, according to the Village Head of Kuyambana, Mr. Zakka Paul.

Accordingly, 13 others kidnapped in Yarkasuwa, Saminaka – also a Christian-dominated community in Lere LGA of Kaduna State – are still in captivity, according to Elders’ Forum and Youth leaders, Mr. Rabo Sabo Jantsauni and Co.

The communities of Yarkasuwa and Saminaka came under heavy armed bandits’ attack, which resulted in brutal killing of four persons and injuring of five others. 

Those kidnapped victims are: (1)Denatu Habibu; (2) Mrs Rahab Danbala; (3)Yohanna Umaru; (4)Catherine Amos; (5) Ibrahim Bagobari; (6) Rev Istifanus Dungu; (7) Habibu Yahaya; (8) John Ibrahim; (9) l Love Markus; (10) Mummy Markus; (11)Christiana Dungu; (12) Lois Markus; and (13) Mary Danbala, respectively 

In the statement, dated 12th November 2025, issued and signed by Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA), the National president of the Association, Mr. Yakubu J. Maigamo and National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Pius Kyauta Agaji, it indicated that, the attackers struck on the night of 11th November, 2025, killing four people and abducting twelve, including men, women, and children.
