The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Major-General Folusho Oyinlola, has decorated the Division’s newly-promoted senior officers.
The investiture was held at the Rhino Officers’ Mess, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, an event that brought together dignitaries, including serving and retired senior officers, heads of security and paramilitary agencies, as well as friends and well-wishers.
Speaking during the ceremony, Maj-Gen Oyinlola congratulated the newly-promoted Brigadier Generals, commending their excellent performance.
He stated that their postings within the 3 Division Area of Responsibility were a deliberate reflection of their competence and, that, their promotion was well-deserved.
While urging the officers to lead by example, rededicate themselves to duty, and sustain their commitment, the GOC highlighted the crucial role of their families, noting that an officer’s effectiveness relies heavily on the support of their spouse at the home front.
He expressed deep appreciation for the steadfast support of the spouses, which he said significantly enhanced the officers’ performance and career advancement.
In a goodwill message, Maj-Gen S. Maina (Retired) extended his congratulations, commending the officers’ unwavering commitment, professionalism, and exemplary service, which he noted distinguished them and earned the promotion.
He emphasized that their elevation was not only a personal achievement but also a testament to their dedication to the Nigerian Army and the nation.
Also addressing the gathering, Brigadier-General JN Temlong (Retired) highlighted the significance of the new rank. He noted that as Brigadier Generals, the officers now occupy a crucial leadership tier, transitioning from implementers to policy-makers and strategic thinkers.
He urged them to redouble their efforts, uphold the highest professional standards, and contribute meaningfully to the Army’s operational effectiveness and national security.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Commodore MA Fana expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff for endorsing their promotion. He thanked the GOC for his strategic guidance and acknowledged the steadfast support of their spouses, pledging that the officers would deliver beyond the expectations of their new rank.
The newly-promoted officers include Brigadier-General MS Sule, Chief of Staff, OPEP; Brigadier-General MA Abba, Deputy Chief of Staff Training/Operations, 3 Division and Commodore MA Fana, Commander, Sector 1 OPEP.
