Plateau State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over the kidnap of its Jos South LGC Chairman, Hon. Dung Tari (aka “Yellow”).

Chairman of PDP Plateau State, Hon. Chris Adukuchili Hassan, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday at the Party Secretariat Jos, when he noted that, Hon. Tari was kidnapped for about 3 weeks ago.

According to him, “The unfortunate incident occurred on the 25th September, 2023, at Bukuru Total Junction where some unidentified ‘military men’ abducted one of our serving Local Government Area PDP Chairman, in the person of Hon. Dung Tari (aka “Yellow”).”

PDP youths carry placards, protesting the chairman’s abduction.

Hon. Chris Hassan narrated that, information reaching them indicated that, Yellow was abducted around 1:30 pm after a meeting with his Executive Committee of Jos South Local Government Chapter, at the Local Government Area Party Office, Bukuru, while he had picked his niece on his way to attend to a family matter.

“While he stopped at Total Filling Station, Bukuru, where he parked to respond to calls, suddenly, two Toyota  Hilux Pick-up trucks in military colours and number plates, and in Nigerian Military uniforms, surrounded him and bundled him into one of the Toyota Hilux Pick-up trucks.

“According to him, Chris Hassan added, one of the ‘soldiers’ forced his niece out of his private car and they proceeded to an unknown destination with no information from his abductors. Until this time, nothing has been heard from him or his abductors, neither his family is informed of his whereabouts and the reason for his abduction.”

The chairman further explained that, “The party has taken steps by reporting to the various security agencies in the state to commence investigation as to his whereabouts.”

Hon. Hassan expressed worry of Hon. Dung Tari’s safety, “because his absence is causing concerns to the Party and Jos South Local Government Area.”

He also appealed to the National Security Adviser, Inspector-General of Police, Chief of Army Staff, and the Director-General DSS to use their good offices to intervene and order for the immediate release of Hon. Dung Tari and promise to provide sureties, who will produce him upon demand.
