Residents in some communities in Kaduna State metropolis are still facing severe price increases on daily basis, despite drop in fuel prices.

Nigerians have been reportedly facing untold hardship brought pursuant of spiral effect of fuel subsidy removal of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.

A mini-market survey conducted by our Correspondent in Kaduna community recently uncovered a horrific experience – with five pieces of fresh, rotten tomatoes and peppers now going for N500 in many places.

This situation, according to most women, is common in places like U/Boro community in Sabon Tasha suburb of Kaduna Town and its environs. But some other women alleged that it’s not limited to one area but almost all places.

Other cooking items are also on the increase, according to residents who spoke to our Correspondent (in confidence) at the instance of the sale stands visited.

According to general believe and knowledge, the prices of rice, maize and gari have been reduced but the difference still remains very minimal, ranging from about five hundred to 300 naira or less.

Some sales girls confirmed that tomatoes, onions, pepper and other soup ingredients, known to be cheap during raining seasons, are still very high, an indications that this year’s try season is going to be tougher and harder for Nigeria’s ruler poor.

Efforts to locate some of the shop owners and community market leaders proved abortive due to inability to pin then down for clarification on price differences between one area and another.

Some of the residents, who spoke to journalists on anonymity, went spiritual, saying that only God is their provider and survival in Nigeria, adding that physical leaders have failed them over times over the years.

“Who and where do we cry to, if not God? Nigerian leaders don’t care whether we are eating or not. No matter how hard working you and your family are, you can’t have 3-square meals now. We pray and thank God to continue to provide for us and our families,” they said.

“Besides, we cannot go far to farm this crops because of kidnappers in our farm lands in the forest. So, only God is our strength, survival and our family. We are going through hell,” they lamented.
