Electricity consumers in ECWA Hausa, as well as De Jays Hotel areas of Ungwan Boro, in Kaduna South metropolis, Kaduna State, have decried larger-scale destruction of their electronic devices due to high voltage resulting from power fluctuation that lasted for 5 days.

Items such as television sets, table fans, laptops, phones and their charging systems, electric bulbs, extension wires and home appliances, among other electronics valuables were badly affected.

Some victims, who spoke to our correspondent, lamented that the power fluctuations lasted for over 4 days, intermittently, this week without remediation from unit staffs, despite several calls by some of the consumers, especially one who gave his name as Mr. James Musa.

While giving account of items affected, neighborhood residents at Jaba/Segma Road, and several others within the radius allegedly blamed the situation on “overloaded transformer” supplying power to the community.

Confirming the sad incident, a victim (Musa) alleged that almost all residents experienced one form or another of the power fluctuations.

A popular electronics repairer, who gave his name as “Mr. Tony,” said he also received some few of the affected electronic devices as a result, as his apprentices also confirmed the same incident.

A lady, bearing Kristen, working in a beer parlor, confirmed to our reporter that POS charging systems and all their family charging instruments, including her mother’s and sister’s own were badly destroyed by the fluctuation.

James Musa, a resident of Boro, by Jaba Road, told our reporter that he called the electric substation manager two times on the incident, but the manager failed to respond, while one other consumer, whose community coordinator, popularly known as “Yellow,” also called the manager – but all in vain.

Contacted, the Head Corporate Communication Manager, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Abdullazeez Abdullahi, could not respond till date.

Communications Manager of KAEDCO is hereby requested to kindly furnish the affected communities with his reaction on this incident, having been provided with evidence when this fluctuation started since last week, resulting to burnt items like residents’ Tvs, Radios, Decoders and Extension Wires.
