The Kaduna State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has threatened legal action against one Imrana Wakili, for making whatr it termed as “false and baseless accusations” against Governor Uba Sani on his X handle.

A statement signed by the Association’s spokesperson, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Shehu, on Wednesday, indicated that, the association “demands an immediate retraction of this baseless allegation and a public apology.”

The statement, made available to newsmen via Ibraheema Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, Wednesday, warned that failure to comply with the directive “will leave us with no choice but to initiate legal proceedings within seven days.”

“It will be recalled that, Imrana had alleged that Governor Uba Sani had approved the expenditure of ₦4.6 billion for the purchase of vehicles for Local Government Chairmen via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @iu_wakili,” it stated.

According to the Kaduna State ALGON spokesperson, “The claim of Imrana Wakili, whose further details were not contained in the statement, is entirely false and baseless.

“Governor Uba Sani has consistently prioritized fiscal discipline and cost-cutting measures since assuming office. The referenced document is a fabrication, clearly intended to mislead the public and serve as click-bait for malicious individuals seeking attention and attempting to undermine the Governor’s administration.

“This deliberate spread of misinformation is a calculated attempt to tarnish the remarkable achievements of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, particularly as the state marks his two years in office,” the spokesman noted.

The statement also warned – “those behind this act to desist from disseminating false and misleading information,” adding that, “spreading fake news is not only irresponsible but also a grave threat to public peace and democratic govern.”
