PLATEAU STATE: The Chairman of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Sati Shuwa, has presented a budget estimate of Eight billion, three hundred and eighty-eight million, nine hundred and six thousand forty-one naira, forty-seven kobo Appropriation Bill for 2025 to the Legislative Arm of the Council.

The budget, which he christened ‘Budget of Continuity and Socio-economic Transformation,’ is higher than the 2024 budget.

While presenting the proposal to the Legislative Arm at the Local Government Secretariat in Riyom, the Council Chairman said the sum of five billion, seven hundred and eighty-two million, nine hundred and six thousand, forty-one naira, forty-seven kobo has been earmarked for the payment of staff salaries and wages, amongst other recurrent expenditures captured in the 2025 Budget, while the Capital Expenditure takes two billion, six hundred and six million naira only.

According to the Chairman, the 2025 budget is designed to achieve his administration’s blueprint and is expected to address key sectors such as rural electrification, economic development, and provision of portable water; other areas including massive construction, secretariat complex, healthcare delivery, and agriculture, for a better and prosperous Riyom Local Government Area.

Hon. Sati Shuwa also explained that the proposed appropriation bill was a product of wide consultations committed to ensuring accountability and transparency in governance for responsive service delivery to the people of Riyom Local Government Area.

According to him, in developing the 2025 projection, various macro-economic factors and budget assumptions were considered, necessitating the creation of a realistic and comprehensive budget that remains adaptable to current economic conditions.

While receiving the 2025 budget proposal, the leader of the Riyom Local Government Legislative Arm, Mafeng Mwanjal, assured the Chairman that the House would expedite action on the budget.

The Leader also gave the assurance of the House’s resolve to work with the Executive Arm for the  good and betterment of their people.
