PLATEAU STATE: The Nigerian Defence College has commended the tireless efforts of the Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for restoring peace and security to the State.

The Provost of the Nigerian Defence College (NDC), Prof. Ahmed Okene Adam, made the commendation during a dinner hosted by the Plateau State Government for participants of NDC Course 33, Team I, at the Banquet Hall, New Government House Rayfield, Jos, recently.

Prof. Adam praised Governor Mutfwang’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Plateau, noting that the state has one of the most robust security frameworks in Nigeria, second only to Qatar in its effectiveness.

He further acknowledged the governor’s patriotism and personal sacrifices in addressing the security challenges facing the state. According to Prof. Adam, without the governor’s selfless intervention, Plateau would not have achieved the remarkable progress it has made in such a short time.

Reflecting on the dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against insecurity, Prof. Adam emphasized the importance of continued public support for the security agencies, while urging Nigerians to stand united in the face of challenges and to support the military in its efforts to ensure national security.

“It is in our collective interest to maintain the unity of this country. Our determination, commitment, and sacrifice are essential to making Nigeria great. I am also deeply impressed by the humility and dedication of Governor Mutfwang’s team. We pray that Plateau State continues on its path to becoming one of the best states in Nigeria,” Prof. Adam stated.

Governor Mutfwang, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, reassured the gathering that his administration would continue to collaborate with key stakeholders, both within and outside the country, to rebuild Plateau State as a model for peace and prosperity.

He emphasized that peace and security remain at the heart of his administration’s priorities, with ongoing efforts aimed at restoring the state’s former glory.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Defence College for its role in training security personnel, which has contributed significantly to the fight against terrorism in the country. He reaffirmed Plateau State’s commitment to reclaiming its well-deserved title as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”

“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support we have received from the security forces, which has contributed to the peace we are now enjoying,” Governor Mutfwang said.

“While we are not yet where we aspire to be, we have come a long way from where we were. We thank the NDC for considering Plateau worthy of study, and we look forward to the insights your research will provide in addressing the security challenges we face. The time is now for a peaceful, united, and prosperous Nigeria.”

The National Tour of States, part of the NDC’s Course 33, Team I, included participants from Burkina Faso, The Gambia, India, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, as well as officials from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Plateau State Government.

Earlier in the day, the delegation was received by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs Josephine Piyo.
