A Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, who doubles as Chairman Campaign Council of Labor Party (LP) in Plateau State, Hon. Engr. Fom Dalyop Chollom, says none of their candidates has stepped down for anybody, both chairmanship and councillorship for the forthcoming local government election on the 9th of October 2024.

Hon. Fom Dalyop Chollom addressing Journalists on Tuesday at NUJ Press Center Jos.

While disclosing this on Tuesday at the NUJ Press Conference, Hon. Fom Chollom commended the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), which has boosted the confidence of all political parties that PLASIEC is capable of delivering credible elections, come October 9th 2024.

But he, however, noted with serious concern the obvious “lopsided recruitment” of adhoc staff by PLASIEC, giving primacy to a political party as against its statutory mandate to create a level-playing ground for free, fair and transparent elections across the state as very unthinkable.

He commended Governor Caleb Mutfang, who has promised a free, fair and transparent, local government elections, come October 9th 2024, which his administration has been all inclusive, irrespective of tribes, religion and party affiliation.

The Member further called on all people within Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency and the entire Plateau electorates to come out enmass and vote the candidates of the Labor Party.

He called on PLASIEC to, as a matter of necessity, summon a Stakeholders’ Engagement to enable discourse on issues regarding the forthcoming local government elections.

He urged PLASIEC to strictly adhere to its statutory mandate of conducting free, fair and transparent elections and uphold the laid down standards, in order to fulfill the assurances of the governor regarding the state-wide exercise that should reflect the will of the masses.
