Kaduna State chapter of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says nobody should be excluded from contesting for any office in the forthcoming LG council elections provided the person is qualified for such office.
The party gave the advise ahead of the state local government elections soon to commence, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Abraham A. Cato, on Wednesday.
“We wish to thank and appreciate all party members and leaders for their contributions and concern towards the successful Ward Congresses in Kaduna State held on 27/07/2024.
“We equally commend the INEC and the security agencies for their commitment to the success of the exercise across the State.
“As we are preparing for the Local Government Congress, the PDP in Kaduna State believes in the participation of all and, therefore, nobody should be excluded from contesting for any office, provided that he/she is qualified for such office.
“The Party further wishes to inform all members and the general public that the DATE for the Sales of Forms for the State Congress has NOT yet commenced, and the DATE for State Congress is also NOT yet fixed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of our Party.
“We want to assure all PDP members across the State that once the National Working Committee (NWC) announces the date, the Sales of Forms will be open for all qualified aspirants.
“Finally, we call on all interested members to remain calm and monitor the official release for the commencement date for the sales of forms. The Party further thanks all members of our great party for their team work.”
There are wide spread allegations and complaints mostly by women that the ruling All Progress Congress (APC) Party LG ward elections are based on selection and understanding instead of internal democracy, favouring mostly only men.
