Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, has lambasted former Kaduna governor again, alleging that residents and animals drank from the same pond during the administration of Mal. Nasir El-Rufai, as Governor.

Sen. Sani also faulted the defence by El-Rufai’s followers over allegations that the former governor misappropriated the sum of N423 billion during his administration and accused El-Rufai’s followers of posting dump from other states and portrayed it as the current state of Kaduna, rather than address the issue of N423 billion fraud.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “They were asked to account for N423 Billion. They resorted to Screen shooting images of Rubbish dump from other places and portrayed it as that of Kaduna of today. They have forgotten their images of how people and animals drank from the same pond under their ignominious and corrupt regime in Kaduna (2015-2023).”

Recalled that the Kaduna State House of Assembly had set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate all finances, loans and contracts awarded under the immediate past governor, which had indicted El-Rufai and some of his appointees of alleged siphoning N423bn state funds.

Adopting the 13-man panel, the assembly asked Governor Uba Sani to refer El-Rufai, his finance commissioner and other aides to relevant security agencies for investigation of the alleged siphoning N423bn state funds.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has set up a panel to investigate the alleged fraud.

But, the former environment commissioner, Sani, while responding to a fresh allegation about the disbursement of some foreign loans, explained that the number of loans listed in the probe report as having been contracted and disbursed before May 2023 was exaggerated.

Also recalled that Senator Shehu Sani blocked Governor el-Rufai from obtaining a foreign loan during the former’s reign in the National Assembly, fearing the monies would be misused.
