The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 15 suspected gangs of ‘Shilla Boys,’ who have been terrorizing residents of the state capital.
Those arrested are youngsters whose ages range between 13 and 20 years. The Adamawa State Police PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the suspects were arrested at Rumde ward in Jimeta, Yola North local government area, and dangerous items recovered from them.
A statement, signed and issued to newsmen in Yola, indicated that, “On early hours of Wednesday, 13th March 2024, Police at Jimeta Division, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, while on patrol with Vigilante men along Rumde engaged radical Shilla gangs, operating with sharp daggers and knives, robbing innocent people of their belongings.
According to the statement, fifteen out of the suspected criminals were arrested with dangerous weapons, which include: Four Sharp Daggers, Three Knives, Two Handsets, Nineteen Thousand Naira (N19,000), Quantity of Hard drugs, amongst numerous items recovered.
The suspects are: Adamu Abdullahi, 17 yrs; Hassan Mohammed, 18 yrs; Abdullahi Yusuf ‘m’, 18 yrs; Abdulrazak Abubakar, 19 yrs; Ibrahim Umar, 19 yrs; Mohammed Zakaria, 14 yrs; Mohammed Auwal, 16 yrs; Kabiru Abdullahi, 20 yrs; Auwal Adamu, 15 yrs; Aminu Adamu, 13 yrs; Abdulraham Umar, 16 yrs.
Others include: Amir Mohammed, 15 yrs; Anas A. Rufai, 20 yrs; Usman Tijjani, 15 yrs, and Mohammed Abubakar, 17 yrs. The statement assured that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted after the completion of investigations.
