Youths in Gonin-Gora community, located along Kaduna-Abuja highway, on Thursday blocked the highway in protest over terrorists’ attacks and killing of a number of residents and kidnapping some other persons yet to be identified.

Most of those killed during the attack, which occurred late Wednesday night, were allegedly members of Civilian JTF, who made an attempt to engage the terrorists’ invasion, in an area identified as New Nigeria.

A Gonin-Gora resident’s account, by Victor Anawo, who is leader of Middle-Belt Youth Organization, who confirmed the story, said he was attending the burial of one of the JTF members killed during the terrorists’ invasion, in their family.

He said the community was yet to ascertain the total number of those kidnapped as at the time our reporter contacted him, but held that four JTF members have already been reportedly confirmed killed.

According to him, the information from scene of the attack alleged that the vigilantes got information, and tried to engage the heavily-armed bandits when many of them lost their lives. 

He said they were yet to hear from the side of the terrorists, but said some operational vehicles were reportedly burnt down during the incident. 

Contacted, the spokesman of Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not respond before press time. Details later.
