Kaduna State Police Command has reportedly nabbed one Aminu Ado Yerima, a 59-year-old notorious impersonator, who hails from Bichi LGA of Kano State.

A statement issued and signed by the Command’s spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, Tuesday, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended at his residence, located at No. 6 GRA Government Quarters, Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Police stated that upon the arrest, the suspect confessed to have impersonated several high-profile personalities, including the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, the Governor of Nasarawa and the Governor of Ondo State.

Other high profile personalities impersonated are the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the wife of the late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

The wife of the Kogi State Governor, the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), and several other prominent figures in Nigerian politics and security sectors, were among those impersonated.

The release further stated that during the search conducted at his residence, items such as five mobile phones, twenty-three SIM cards, were recovered.

It reads: “On the 19th of July, 2025, following credible intelligence and weeks of sustained surveillance, operatives of the Command successfully arrested a notorious impersonator, one Aminu Ado Yarima, a 59-year-old male from Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State. 

“The suspect was apprehended at his residence, located at No. 6 GRA Government Quarters, Keffi, Nasarawa State,” it stated.

Accordingly, “Upon arrest, the suspect confessed to having impersonated several high-profile personalities, including: the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, the Governor of Nasarawa and the Governor of Ondo State, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the wife of the late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, the wife of the Kogi State Governor, the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), and several other prominent figures in Nigerian politics and security sectors.

“During the search conducted at his residence, the following items were recovered: Five (5) mobile phones, Twenty-three (23) SIM cards.

“Several diary books and jotters containing phone numbers of all the Chiefs of Staff to the governors of the 36 states across the country, as well as those of high-ranking federal and state officials with other numerous traditional rulers (Emirs and Chiefs), and senior Police and Military officers,” it added.

According to Police, preliminary investigation has commenced, and the suspect will be charged to court upon its conclusion.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, therefore, reassured the good people of Kaduna State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the society of fraudsters, impersonators and all sort of criminals.
