About 1,000 youths (with 100 in each of the 17 local government areas of Plateau State) are to benefit from ICT drive towards repositioning the economic income of the generation.
Hon. Kekas Wungak Rotshak (aka “Kefiano”) was speaking during the commissioning of the project, tagged, ‘Kefiano Hub,’ opposite Secretariat Junction, Jos, recently, when he noted that, “The idea is for attracting technological approach to derive the income to empower youths on knowledge of ICT technology.”
He urged Plateau youths to take advantage of the creative industry, “which is such a big money spinning industry to the economic development of the local creative that we need to key into the system.”
He explained that, “The economic growth is gradually shifting towards the creative industry and technological, which Kefiano Hub is determined to train and retrain youths in the state today, because the first film that was shut in Nigeria began here on the Plateau; so, we are ready go back to the drawing board to reactivate our creative talent.”
Hon. Kefas Rotshak urged the State Government to partner with the Kefiano Hub to revamp the creative industry and technological knowledge of encouraging small and medium enterprises.
“Our youths resort to writing negative things on the social media. By raining abusive languages on each other might not help us grow, but it would rather bring us backward,” he observed.
He emphasized that “Plateau State is not a Civil Service State, but this is a commercial state where everyone can derive into money making industry. So, we need to employ the ideas or issues that can generate money – to train many Plateau youths to discover and achieve their God-given talents that is from humanity.”
According to him, Kefiano Hub is open for partnering with spirited individuals, government and NGOs, and urged the youths to avail themselves and register on how to make money on their own.
He noted that the program is scheduled to kick-start between December 2023 and February 2024, where youths in LGAs shall be undergoing training in creative ICT and technology.
He reiterated that the 1,700 youth group is to be trained in selected communities without their religious or political backgrounds, but to improve IGR of the household.
Hon. Rotshak called on the youths to shun politics and work hard to improve their well-being, instead of allowing themselves to be used for thuggery.
While unveiling the edifice, Sen. Tai Idoko called on Plateau youths to take advantage of it and rebuild their tomorrow, and appealed to the State Government to partner with the Kefiano Hub and add value to the welfare of the local creative industry, noting that, “The initiative would introduce new ideas on how to fish for their daily bread and better family income.”
